Scripture: Leviticus 5:14-6:7; 7:1-10

The ancient world existed under the rule of, “an eye for an eye.” Still today, we like fairness, and we demand that payment be made for one’s wrong – especially if it’s a wrong done against us! Leviticus’ “guilt offering” deals with that exact topic: what’s the right payment for defrauding God’s name, God’s property, or God’s people? The answer is two-fold: first, it’s always good and right to make amends when we wrong others. But deeper, sin is always against God, and there’s only one Redeemer who can rightly “pay God back” for our sin.
